divemart
is a non-commercial website. It is not trying
to sell you anything. There are no irritating advertisements.
You cannot pay to be listed on divemart, or to receive
a favourable review.
There is no subscription fee or login required to view
any of the reviews on divemart. The site is entirely
accessible to everybody for free.
So why do we do it? A group of dive
instructors realised that there is a distinct lack of
accurate information about dive locations on the web,
and that something needed to be done to address this
problem.
How can we do this if we aren't making any money? The
founder of divemart, Andrew Coldron, a former dive instructor,
has a web design company. As a result, design and hosting
of divemart is free.
The site is written to develop itself, all reviews and
feedback from divers can be updated automatically online,
so once again it does not cost us anything to maintain
the website.
As we are a non commercial website, we are receiving
very generous support from many dive magazines and have
offers of editorials scheduled to feature in 2007/8.
Most importantly, divemart relies on the help of
the diving community and in particular dive clubs throughout
the UK. Through their support and the
efforts of divers, we are creating the largest database
of independent, unbiased location reviews which
are uniquely comparable as they are all reviewed using
the same
rating guidelines
